The eggun, most simply put, are the spirits of the dead. They are often referred to as ancestors, but this is not entirely accurate; while your ancestors are certainly included among the eggun, they are not solely made up of them. It is essential to honor and satisfy the eggun, as they deserve as much respect as the Orishas.
